Privacy Is The Right Of Privacy - 920 Words
Throughout history of the Constitution of the United States, it does not contain reference to privacy, but privacy has been implied in the constitution. Originally, privacy is the right of everyone to be physically free from being observed or disturbed by other people. Technology has change the meaning of privacy when it became part of our daily life. Nowadays, one can be observed or disturbed through internet or any electronic devises. Privacy has become an issue for everyone when technology played a role on helping third party violate privacy; as a result, the constitution should protect everyoneââ¬â¢s privacy from government agencies and other private entities. The personal information should be kept in secret and not given or sold to a third party. Facebook is one of the company that gather detail ed personal data about its users giving them up on a platter to advertisers (Farrell 2015). Moreover, not only the advertisers want the data, but the NSA and other U.S. security agencies as well. They use the information for surveillance and other purposes which it is a violation of the right for privacy. Under the Amendment IV, Americans has the right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures. However, technology has brought intangible item which it form part of our privacy since it contains personal belonging, such as, photos, electronic documents, and other digital assets. The Fourth Amendment should protect and enforce the right of privacy. But, in reality, it has gone off track in the digital aspect and it is in need of reform because personal information from internet is share to a third party. Americans are very often unaware that their information are being pull out from all over internet to compile a single file of every individual surfing in internet. No matter how insignificant the data is, it can be used for different purposes. One usage of the data from people is the targeting of voters for election.
